417 Area Running Groups

There are so many excellent reasons to run with a group: motivation, fun, safety, fun, encouragement, fun, inspiration, fun, and did I say FUN!?! We are very fortunate to have lots of running groups to choose from in Southwest Missouri. - Morning. Evening. Short. Long. Slow. Fast. Weekend. Weekday.  Many have a “no one left behind” practice.  Here is a listing of running groups in the area. If we missed a group, let us know via!

Message From The President - January 2016

Greetings my wonderful OMRR family!

It seems like only yesterday that 2015 was beginning and now here we are ready to jump into 2016. We had an amazing turnout at Run For The Ranch - the gorgeous weather certainly was a blessing. I keep hearing compliments about the volunteers and how wonderful they were - I have to say that I am so proud to be part of a club with such enthusiastic members.

Frisco planning is starting to ramp up. We’ve made some changes based on last years feedback - the Ultramarathons will start very early (6:00AM), packet pickup will be smoother, and we are working with the Willard schools on having extra potties and extra parking. We will be celebrating the 25th birthday of Ozark Greenways at the event this year - its amazing to see the progress that has been made over the years.

The Annual Business Meeting and Banquet is coming up soon - the officer and member-at-large biographies are included in this months newsletter but will also be available at the meeting. Voting will take place at the meeting but mail in ballots will be accepted until January 10th.

We are now accepting payments for ROTY 2016. Keep in mind that ROTY runs on the calendar year (January 1 to December 31) so only races completed in that calendar year count. It’s a great program and its a great way to track PR’s and local athletes.

I’m looking forward to 2016! See you out on the road and trails!

PR Corner - April Races

It’s PR-ty time!  When you enter race data into the site you can flag it as a PR.  Each month we will have a random gift card drawing - for every 10 PR’s entered into the race site we will give away 1 gift card.

In April, we had a whopping 40 PR’s entered into the site - this means we are giving away 4 gift cards for those who got a PR in April.

The winners are Denise Ussery (PR at Glad Top), Allyn Wollard (PR at Camp Barnabas), Sharon Hendrix (PR at Go Girl Springfield), and Joel Alexander (PR at Frisco 50K).

Way to go!!  Send an email to and let us know if you would like a Bass Pro, Ridge Runner Sports, Ultramax, Subway, or Starbucks gift card.

For more information or to see the great accomplishments of our members, check out the PR Corner under the Programs menu.

Dues Increase

Effective June 1, 2014, dues for membership in the Ozark Mountain Ridge. Runners will be changed to the following:

Dues for membership in the Ozark Mountain Ridge Runners will be $20 per year for the first member of a household. Each additional member of the household will be $5 per year with a maximum of $40 per household. A household will be defined as individuals living at the same physical address.

If you are paid past June first this won’t affect you until your due date. For instance, if you are paid through September, that’s when the new rate will affect you. If you have two household members currently paying separately, the new due date will be effective off the first person.

This is necessary as many of our costs are going up such as taxes, insurance, the costs of our events such as the picnic, races and banquet. We are also looking to continue improving our two signature events. That was also the biggest factor in the newsletter print edition going from monthly to quarterly.

Welcome to the new OMRR website! Over the next few days, we’ll be moving all of content from the old site ( to here. Once we’re sure we didn’t leave anything behind, the old site will be retired to the warehouse and you will be able to reach us through both web addresses.
