President’s Message

February 1, 2018

It’s Beginning to Look A-lot Like “Winter”!

January was an action packed month for OMRR. The Annual Business Meeting and Banquet was well attended with over 100 members joining in the food and fun. Dan Wells produced a great evening. The state of the club, member’s achievements and the future of OMRR was discussed. ROTY will remain ROTY ( Runners of the Year) under new rules and new awards ( discussed in this issue). Triple Crown and the PR corner will be maintained. You elected five new members to our board. Jerri Davis, Joy Weis, Jimmy Brooks, Mark Stephens, and Ron Boyer will join John Everett, VP, Lali Handwerker, Treasurer, Kris Bossert, Secretary, and Sandy Keith, Publications. Dean Casady was inducted into our Hall of Fame and Lali Handwerker is our Gerald Glass Award Recipient.

Cabin Fever Reliever and the Resolution 5k were a great success. Logan- Rogersville High School provided the venue for our traditional winter event. Many Missouri state records were recorded and submitted for acceptance. Feel free to contact Ron Boyer should you have any questions concerning these submissions.

Double down jackets have arrived. We will be posting the delivery instructions soon. In the meantime contact me to pick up your award.

Enough of the old – now for the new!

The new website should be up and running any day now. Should you have entered an event in ROTY, the event will need to be entered on the new website also.

Beginners group will be promoted and begin toward the middle of February. Beginner’s training is a fun way to meet the areas new runners and offer encouragement for their continued success; Also a possible way to rehab that nagging injury. Come run with us as you are able.

This is the 10th anniversary of the Frisco Railroad Run. Frisco desires to be the best event OMRR has ever produced. It is still under consideration as a state delegated event. Several colleges and universities will be using our half marathon course to qualify for their national competition. We promise great aid stations, great treats, great SWAG and a great time. Get excited! You do not want to miss this years “FRISCO”!

All for now. Winter running can be challenging but a great way to enhance your day. So put em on and go.

See you out there soon!
